TBC Metalworks bends square and rectangular steel tube at our shop in Green Bay, Wisconsin. We rotary draw and CNC mandrel bend square tube from 5/8″ to 2″ and rectangle tube from 3/4″ x 1-1/2″ to 3″ x 1-1/2″, and roll bend square tube, rectangle tube, channel and angle iron into large arcs, hoops and rings.

Rectangle radii marked IR are inside radius; all other radii are centerline radius (CLR). Tell us the bend direction (easy way or hard way) on rectangle parts and we will confirm which die fits.

Roll bending

We roll bend square tube, rectangle tube, channel and angle iron into arcs, hoops and rings at radii larger than about 15″.

Why square tube is harder to bend than round

On a square or rectangular tube, the inside wall wants to buckle and the outside wall wants to pull in and go concave. Clean bends need tooling matched to the exact profile, plus internal support for tighter radii. With rectangle tube, bending “the easy way” and “the hard way” need different tooling and allow different radii, so call out the bend direction on your drawing.
